Dear Reader,  Ali's time on earth has come to pass. May peace and blessings be upon his soul. His passing was on June 16, 2014. Though he no longer walks among us, his extensive collection of knowledge and teachings lives on here.

You may come across places on this site with invitations to contact Ali directly. This, of course, is no longer possible. You may contact Hamid at hamidgreg at gmail dot com if you have questions about the site or Ali.

May peace be upon you.

"Democracy... while it lasts is more bloody than either aristocracy or monarchy. Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There is never a democracy that did not commit suicide."
-- John Adams
The Finest thing we can do for ourselves and for the rest of the world is to Receive Divine Love and Share Our Source..
Politics has become nothing more than buying votes instead of living by true moral values.
What indeed has become of the noble people who fought and died to defend their right to live
by the true and  honest principles of open and honest faith in the promise of God,
that the unjust will surely spend their real time in eternity in endless regret.
Do you not believe? Just think for a moment. Is it really worth it? Could you not be at least
a little deceived by the illusory and ever-shifting life of this insane mortal world?
Do you really so disrespect the wisdom of the Saints, sages and prophets of all time?
Are you really willing to sell your soul for a paltry handful of dirt?

HOW TO HEAL YOUR FAITH
(from: Perfection)

Faith is no accident - it can be perfected through self-education, direction, and healing. Your Faith is what you believe. And as you believe, so it shall be. It is your Faith that controls your destiny. If your Faith is in alignment with A Benevolent Reality, your benevolent outcome is certain. So be certain that what you believe is true. Perfect your Faith through constant Self Education. Feel yourself increasing in your Knowledge of God. We get what we expect.
Because I KNOW God is Good, I see and receive only Good.

In order to receive good, don't focus on the good you wish to receive, focus on the knowing that God IS Good; on the Knowing of God. This can be learned. And from this, all and only Good will come to you. Take your mind off what you want, for that is already known by God. Focus your mind on the Knowing of God and receive instant illumination. The primary distortion to be overcome is that of a malevolent God.

One Reality- Not Two
"Harisun `alaikum; bil mu`mineeni-r Ra`ouf-ur-Raheem"

There is but One Reality, and that Reality is infinite and unconditional Conscious Benevolence, manifesting itself as a Divine Source of endless and eternal Love, Care and Resource, unlimited Generosity and Provision from unseen and unknown sources. This is no fleeting thought. This is an ever-present reality. It is not to be held in the mind alone but through the process of realization, incorporated into your being with an ever-increasing depth of perception and awareness, that through this actual embodiment, ever-more increasing benefit may be derived.

It is a classic mistake on the part of many theologians to emphasize service as a means to the 'reward' of realization, but true service is a being resurrected as the product of realization and often, no matter how selfless or devout, service can fail as a means. This is because it is imperative to realize that realization need only be realized, otherwise the fact that it is present already and always has been might be denied, and it cannot be had if its eternal presence is not recognized. Contemplate One Reality- Not Two!

Hold before your mind’s eye only the perfect image that Universal Mind has of your body.

"There is one rule that will help anyone keep healthy. That rule is to forget your nerves, throw away your pills and your medicine bottles, and hold before your mind’s eye only the perfect image that Universal Mind has of your body. That is the surest way to keep free from sickness. And if you are already sick, the same rule applies. Know that Universal Mind never created disease, which is but an illusion of your conscious mind. Know that mind is the only creator that as Shakespeare puts it, “There is nothing, either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.” Know that you have the say as to what that thinking shall be. Know, therefore, that by holding a perfect image of your body in your thoughts you can make your body perfect." ~ Robert Collier: Secret of the Ages, p198

Saying Assalamu aleykum Dear Brother Ali
BismillahirRahmanirRahim. Allahumasali ala Sayydina wa habibina Muhammad Al Mustafah swas.
I just felt like expressing gratitude for the gift of Your Manifestation. Fatiha for you dear brother Ali.
Salamun Qawlan MirRabbi Rahim.Take care.

AND YET ANOTHER
Ali,
I just wanted to thank you again for working with me a few years back.  I can’t tell you how much you helped me.  I had been in and out of different sorts of therapy for years searching for such a simple peace you re-opened my eyes to.  I was reading on your site tonight, “to build your house on sand is folly, but to build it on a solid rock is the wisdom that endures” and this resonated with me so deeply.  You did this for me.  You so simply and succinctly helped me to realize the obvious, see through the illusions and connect with my true self. The peace that comes with knowing on such a deep level can never be taken away and, although circumstances arise and I don’t always rise above them, I have a place I can go to that you showed me where I can see truth and love.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.

DISCOVERING THE MIRACLE

"Praise and Gratitude to Allah Who has guided us to 'This'. And we could not be among the guided (to 'This') were it not for the guidance of Allah." ~ Qur`an

"...and how can I explain to you what 'This' is?"

One thought of 'Absence'' leads to the world of error. One true thought that there is no absence of life, substance and intelligence in my idea of good, restores to us our rightfully divine inheritance.

The Miracle is, by definition, Divine. We All need The Miracle in our lives. We either recognize our lives as The Miracle we need or we do not. But in either case, we need The Miracle in our lives.

Many people have health who are not necessarily healed. People who are healed are no longer concerned with health and that is why it is granted to them. Their very disconcern for it is why it is granted them. What is it that healed people are concerned with? They are concerned with The Miracle. They are literally fascinated by it; in awe of it. It occupies their every thought and glance and moment.

"One Perfect Thought of God, inserted into the body, will heal you perfectly!"

What a profound thought! Can we even begin to fathom the reality of that? Why, Yes! We can if we want to. If we are interested in truth in any fashion, we must be fascinated by the potential offered in this one idea.

KWAN YIN AND THE SMILE OF THE BODHICHITTA

Relying on Kwan Yin is the essential element for the accomplished practitioner.

Often times we feel inadequate for the job at hand of being patient and compassionate with clients. At times like this it does one well to remember that one is not the healer or even the doer. "Wherever two or more are gathered in My Name", is the key to remembering this.

It takes two to make the chemistry of healing and one cannot prepare for this other than knowing from experience that it always works out better than hoped.

Kwan Yin, the Perfection of the Divine Feminine and the Goddess of Compassion and Healing, exists within each and every one of us. She represents manifestation of the all pervading compassion, knowledge, wisdom and understanding in healing circumstances and she is the hidden driving force behind the Bodhi Chitta which is the much sought after jewel hidden in the heart which appears in (often brief) moments of true compassion.

Learning to recognize and linger in these moments is the art of allowing the true healer (Kwan Yin, the Heart of Compassion) to do her work.

The Smile of the Bodhi Chitta Is the ear to ear grin that you get when you know that your have truly been visited by Kwan Yin. This smile will eventually erupt if you sit long enough in peaceful contemplation. It represents the return of self confidence, knowing and trust.

"You need not do anything.
Remain sitting at your table and listen.
You need not even listen, just wait.
You need not even wait, just learn to be quiet, still and solitary.
And the world will freely offer itself to you unmasked.
It has no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet."
- Franz Kafka

"The world is a veil; pull it aside. Its comforts are snares; do not be caught. Its sorrows are fires; breathe none of their smoke. Beyond waking and dreaming, there is another intelligence. There is an elusive reality, glorious, overpowering, pervasive, changeless, and incorruptible. Yet we fall to disputing a single beam of light. Through the prism of self, we describe different colors with different words. We assume certainty and finality imagining that red contradicts violet, that green opposes blue. How far this is from the truth of things. From within this dream, you doubt what is real. In the waking world, you put aside your dreams. Yet asleep or awake, the world is false and fleeting. Shake off the sleep that you have called life, and the magic of these words will never diminish, the bowl of their excellence will never be drained."  ~ The Trial of Paris

“The makers of our Constitution undertook to secure conditions favorable to the pursuit of happiness. They recognized the significance of man’s spiritual nature, of his feelings, and of his intellect. They knew that only a part of the pain, pleasure and satisfactions of life are to be found in material things. They sought to protect Americans in their beliefs, their thoughts, their emotions and their sensations. They conferred, as against the government, the right to be let alone — the most comprehensive of rights and the right most valued by civilized men.”
~ Justice Louis Brandeis

ABOUT THE SUFI WAY, SELFLESS SERVICE, AND FREEDOM FROM THE TYRANNY OF THE SELF
(excerpts from "an Interview")

A good religion will have all of the requisite teachings to provide for the safety, reform and 'realignment' of human energy that is necessary to contribute to a proper environment for the emergence of the true human, or "soul" qualities of peace, mercy, wisdom and justice for all. This emergence, in some cultures, is considered simply "maturation".

Take a look into world history and at the incredible civilizations built upon the peace established by the religion of Islam. You will see world environments in which the magnificent qualities of peace and soulful patience emerged in the form of unsurpassed achievement in the fields of architecture, agriculture, hygiene, etiquette, medicine, philosophy, psychology, literature, poetry, art and calligraphy, to mention only a few. And all of this without the oil cartels and the frenetic waste of human energy and natural resources.

Where are the socially accessible benefits of these qualities being manifested now? Only within small, well defined, "experimental" spiritual communities. But creating an arena for the manifestation of these qualities is exactly the purpose of the Islamic revelation.
*****

There have been volumes and eulogies written in praise of Muhammad, whose name in fact means the Most Praiseworthy. As stated in Qur`an, Allah Himself as well as His angels, sends his blessings upon the Prophet, and the believers are encouraged to do the same. It is stated that when a believer asks for Allah's blessings upon the Prophet and his family, that the Prophet and his family, upon Whom be Peace, from their places in the unseen, return the request by asking for Allah's blessings upon the believer. Muhammad asked of us nothing but to love him and his family. How do we go about loving him and his family? Simply by bearing witness to the truth of the message of the Unity of God (Al-llah!) and the prophecy of Muhammad. In Islam, recognition of and honoring the truth of this message is the key to "salvation", or the "liberation" of the "soul" qualities.  So love for Muhammad and his family is the key to the liberation of all the unseen virtues of the human soul. This is the reason why the Sufis are so unrivaled in their exuberant praises of God, and why their writings and poetry are so exhilarating, because they represent the heights of liberation attainable by the human soul, and resonate with that potential within our selves.
*****

A willingness to "let go" of life itself will show you that it is not at all dependent upon you and your efforts to ward off your fears. Life has a benevolence all its own that can only be experienced by letting it. Continued practice coupled with a spiritual discipline can lead to complete liberation.
*****

Spiritual liberation has proven to be the root and motivation of all the healing arts, for when the mind and body/heart are truly synchronous and free of the enslaving ideologies and incorrect belief systems, all choices become available and true health has a chance to dominate.

There is no doubt that spiritual liberation and education is not just desirable, but altogether necessary. But liberation is from what? Only our fears! And the Sufis maintain that a true knowledge of Islam would go a long way toward ameliorating our fears and dispelling our doubts. It might be that our greatest collective fear at the moment is Islam. Of everything that we are getting from and seeing in the media there is only one true statement: "That is not the real Islam".
*****

Q. So what is Islam, and what are we afraid of?

A. My point exactly. I might answer that by saying that we are afraid of our fear, and that  knowledge of the true Islam is a perfect means of dispelling it. Fear is always based on Ignorance, and knowledge is always a liberation, The truth shall indeed set you free. So the purpose of knowledge is to liberate us from ignorance. And what true knowledge of Islam do we have in the West? As long as we are ignorant, we can be manipulated by fear. But what if we had nothing to be afraid of? What then? Can anybody in the West explain why Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world? I can. It's simply because it is supposed to be. It was created to capture and hold our interest, and it has done a very good job. So what is the truth of Islam? As an accepted religion, it is the most recent and final manifestation of Divine Will, Mercy, Forgiveness and Knowledge to come to us through a long line of accepted prophets.

It is becoming increasingly obvious what certain Islamic Scholars have been saying all along - "Islam IS the Issue". We are more motivated and governed by our ignorance and fear of Islam than we would like to think, but what IS Islam? It's nothing, really. By that I mean that it can be for most of us nothing greater than a simple shift in understanding. For example, accepting the Name of Al-llah! as the Name of God is one increasingly popular thing we can do that immediately shifts the energy and releases the tensions of a perceived incompatibility.

Another could be, instead of struggling with "surrender", to accept that we are Muslim (meaning: surrendered - past tense, over and done with), and use the word. Affirmation through the use of Qur'anic terminology elevates the consciousness, expands perspective and awareness, and facilitates the understanding and significance of the words. English words always need a definition whereas Qur`anic terminology is designed to come complete with palpable understanding given the proper intention, contemplation, and desire to know.

HEALTH, PROSPERITY & SUCCESS ARE ATTAINED BY LIVING IN THE REALITY OF GOD

"If we Muslims simply see ourselves as healers, not warriors, and see Islam as the medicine, not the weapon, and
learn to apply it, like all medicines, with a judicious perspective on the nature of disease and disharmony, then
we will be successful in our endeavors to have the world understand the benefits and healing nature of Islam."
************************************************************

After spending one's life in surrender, paying attention to the transcendent realities and not the imminent, one begins to perceive and understand the true nature of these realities, and their source and purpose. Such are the fruits, results and benefits of the so-called Mystic Quest for Truth, which some few people in life actually choose to pursue. It proves out that in the long run these people become the teachers of those whose interest is piqued somewhat later. And what they teach is called, among many other things, the Realities of God. It's what sincere students want and seek: Experiential Knowledge of God.

The teaching of all spiritual traditions tells us that the root cause of suffering is the absence of truthful knowledge. This emptiness is then filled with the endless distractions provided by our life in this temporary world of mortality and sensation. But no matter what we do, we cannot escape the all-pervading feeling that something is missing.

We believe if we could just discover that certain something (often projected as that certain 'somebody'), we could possibly be actually happy instead of motivated by a feeling of endless discontent.  If we only believed that joy, happiness and a wonderful life can be had by a simple discovery, a simple re-focusing of attention that opens the gates to a whole new world; we wouldn't waste another minute with the distractions we choose to give importance.

It's a shame that so few people know ‘how’ to believe in God, since proper application of principle increases benefit. Everyone thinks they know 'what' they believe (or not).  Everyone can objectify. But mental fear keeps people away from the subjective experience. Ask people what they are afraid of and it will ultimately come down to 'the truth'.

Nothing is easier to satisfy than the True Self, for the True Self is created in God’s image for the very purpose of experiencing and reflecting a happy, trustful existence, and manifesting its gratitude in the form of praise for God and Life. Find your true self and you will truly find abundant satisfaction. Satisfaction can be enormously increased by paying attention to it. This is a secret to life and healing. Find your source of happiness and know that happiness heals. Pay attention to your true self and your satisfaction will increase exponentially. Exponential increase in satisfaction leads to contentment and success.

We are deliberately ignoring a perfect life and therefore not living it.  We replace it with images - the thoughts, fears and desires of our minds, and so deprive ourselves of the benefits received from paying attention to it.  Redirecting our attention to what truly benefits us is the nature of spiritual healing.

This form of healing improves your perception of reality by improving your understanding of how reality works.

This is the knowledge we need.

This is the Knowledge of God.

THE MEANING OF WORDS

Do you know what Surrender really means? To surrender is to know and live in the reality of a loving and benevolent God - to perceive the heavenly life with every breath and action. To live in our reality as it truly is - guided, knowing and surrendered to Divine Will - and to carry none of the illusions of separation and independent self-hood any more at all. Total Surrender to God is the true Spiritual Liberation. It is to be free of the compulsions of our comparative, competitive egoic delusion, and surrendered completely to the reality of our true and immortal existence.  It is to walk through the veils, to be oblivious to ourselves and aware only of the reality of our life in God.

The attainment of this realization begins with envisionment, or ideation. Muhyuddin Ibn al-Arabi, a famous Sufi Mystic, wrote a whole treatise on the use of our imaginations as a means of approach to reality. We really do have to see it, and we really can. It is reported that Imam Ali, the Spiritual Successor to Prophet Muhammad, when asked if he could see God, replied: “Would I worship a God I could not see?”

So how do we go about seeing the Reality of God? We do that through the exercise of our belief. Yes. Exercise - Practice Believing. After all - belief is a command, we are commanded by God to believe. Obedience brings the results. Belief is not an accident as most people seem to think. It is a conscious choice. We see what we believe.

Islam is a reality in so many different ways. As a behavior pattern, a pathway to walk, it exists. Whether we like it or not, believe it or not, want it or not, love it or not, whatever. It’s there, it's a challenge and an invitation, and it is not going away! It’s an enigma to some and a revelation to others.

Every word is an indicator, a summary indication of some reality. So what is the reality behind this word, Islam? Its ultimate practice is surrender. And what is the goal of surrender, and by extension, the reality of Islam? Here is the meat of the matter.

As stated previously, the goal of Surrender is to know and live in the Reality of God. So Surrender and Belief are the keys to the gates of God’s own Heaven. This is a reality that can only be realized through practice. And practice consist – as defined in Qur`an – of believing and doing good works.

And concerning that, Imam `Ali has said about Islam: “Have you fully realized what Islam is? It is indeed a religion founded on truth. It is such a fountainhead of learning that several streams of wisdom and knowledge flow from it. It is such a lamp that several lamps will be lighted from it. It is a lofty beacon illuminating the path of Allah. It is such a set of principles and beliefs that will satisfy every seeker of truth and reality. Know you all that Allah has made Islam the most sublime path for the attainment of His supreme pleasure and the highest standard of His obedience. He has favored it with noble precepts, exalted principles, undeniable wisdom, undoubtable arguments and unchallengeable supremacy. It is up to you to maintain the eminence and dignity granted to it by the Lord, to follow it sincerely, to do justice to its articles of faith and beliefs, to obey implicitly its tenets and orders and to give it the proper place in your lives''.

Amir al-mu'mineen, peace be upon him, said: “This world is a place for transit, not a place to stay. The people herein are of two categories. One is the man who sold away his soul for the sake of his passions and thus became ruined, and the other is the man who redeemed himself by control of his passions and thus became free.

“There are two kinds of workers in the world. One is a person who works in this world for this world and his work of this world keeps him unmindful of the next world. He is afraid of destitution for those he will leave behind but feels himself safe about it. So, he spends his life after the good of others. The other is one who works in this world for what is to come hereafter, and he secures his share of the world without effort. Thus, he gets both the benefits together and becomes the owner of both the houses together. In this way, he is prestigious before Allah. If he asks of Allah anything it is not denied him.

“I wonder at the miser who is speeding toward the very destitution from which he wants to run away and misses the very ease of life which he covets. Consequently, he passes his life in this world like a destitute, but will have to render an account for it in the next world like the rich.”

THE IMPERATIVE OF SURRENDER
"In Conscious Surrender Everything Makes Sense!"

Surrender is the key to Self-realization and Self-realization is the key to true health and happiness. Understanding True Surrender is the first Imperative and prerequisite for an enlightened understanding of faith and health.  Learning how to Deepen Your Surrender is NOT Impossible! It is referred to by the ancients as "Learning How to Learn".  It leads to and comes from a correct Re-cognition, A Knowing Wisdom, and true Gnosis.

Faith without the fruit of it can often be a bitter pill to swallow. We must learn how to benefit from our faith and practice. This learning is accomplished through the practice of "Surrender at All Times".

Self-Realization is God-Realization. It is based upon the Holy Truth that -

"When You Recognize God, you Recognize Your Self!"

But how can we and how do we deeply recognize God? Through Simple Realization Principles and Totally Conscious Surrender!

Surrender leads to Recognition. The Recognition of God leads to the desire to Surrender more deeply, and a deeper Surrender increases your Recognition of God. God's Recognition of You increases your intelligence and your feeling of well being and capacity - to get well, if you need to, to succeed, or simply live a long healthy life.

So, If you are having any difficulties understanding yourself, including your personal, social, psychological, societal, religious and spiritual life or your health or relationships, it is only because you've run out of places to look for answers and guidance.

Why Personal and Social Development is Dependent upon our Realization of Spiritual Unity

What is Spiritual Unity? Spiritual Unity is the Reality. It is not just a fact, it is the Reality, and the consequences of ignoring it are dire! This Reality is referred to in many languages and in All religions and Spiritual Paths. (In Islam it is called Tawhid, and is the central theme of the Religion.) This Reality is the basic foundation of all the Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Yogic, Buddhist, Zen, Hindu and Taoist teachings. it is the Reality from which these teachings come and the Reality to which they lead. It is by means of the Realization of Spiritual Unity (the Endless Reality, Self-realization, God-realization) that the True Love we are seeking can be known and felt, and the Safety, Security and Confidence that we need to be successful in life can be understood. So what is the process by which the Realization of Spiritual Unity and the True Self can occur? This process is called "Spiritual Practice".

The first thing we need to know is that the Universe is created to work in our favor, not against us. The only thing working against us is our preconceived notions, and we can lose these notions and experience the reality of the Universe working in our favor if we want to, if we choose to. But then there are two questions: How do we get the Universe to work in or favor? Well, we don't! It already is. So How can we prove it and consciously perceive it? Well, it takes a little risk. Are you willing? You simply need to relinquish your preferences, or your attachment to your desires, and take a fresh look at what's already going in your favor. We need to experientially confirm and affirm that things are OK as they are, and that we really do not need to make any improvements. Affirming that things are OK as they are has a couple of benefits. 1) It increases gratitude, and that's always a good thing because we know that gratitude is the key to increase. And how's that, you say? If you are grateful for what you have you'll use it properly and the proper use of existing resources is the key to gaining increase. And, if you are grateful for what you have and are using it properly, you'll 2), stop complaining about what you don't have and the cessation of negative attitude will go a long way toward propelling you into the future you want.

"OK", you say, "but it looks a little hard to do on my own".

I understand, and the Buddha formulated a principle for exactly that problem, and it applies to all religions, educations and spiritual paths. It's called "Buddha, Dharma, Sangha." and it means, loosely "Teacher, Teaching and Student Body, or Community".

The Teacher is required because as you know, we
can most quickly learn from one who has mastered the subject under consideration, (in this case, Life, or Spiritual Unity) and if it's a valid subject, it most assuredly has its masters and students.
The Activity of Teaching as well as the Doctrine of the truth of the reality and method of attainment
of the subject under consideration must also be present, and finally,
The Proof is in the Pudding - Are the Students happy, successful in their endeavors and inviting.

What the masters have realized is that any subject or problem, contemplated long enough, reveals its secret. We draw near to us that which we seek. So the more we focus on understanding the Reality of Spiritual Unity, the more we will learn about it and from it. And a Master is one who stays focused on a subject until he or she has truly mastered it. This focusing on understanding the Reality of Spiritual Unity is called "Spiritual Practice".

Now there are three levels to learning, or 'realization'.

What does it mean, to "Realize" -
A brief description of realization, or the three level of "knowing".

The word "realize" (or "know") has three distinct meanings:
1.    We realize when we know for a fact - intellectually;
2.    We realize when we see it in action - actually; and
3.    We realize when we feel or know it in our entire being - intuitively.

The first Knowing (factual) is of the mind, and often we think that that is the end of knowledge, what we know to be true in our minds. But there is more. For example, we all know in our minds that science corroborates the reality that All is One. OK, but - the question remains, how does this knowledge actually help us? How can we put it to conscious use for our personal and collective betterment?

How does the knowing that "All Is One" actually help us?

We all have a thirst for endless unconditional Love. This is the longing that God put into the hearts of men and women to cause them to seek the way home. A true knowing of Spiritual Unity, the Reality of "All is One", is what is necessary to open our hearts to receive it.

Imagine sitting down with your grandfather as a little child and asking him why he and your grandmother were still together and he talked to you for hours on a subject called Love. Now you know that your mom and dad love you but what granddad is talking about seems so different from what you experience as a child with loving parents. Now you 'know' that love exists, but that's the extent of your knowledge.

The second "knowing" is what happens when as a young adult you're strolling through the park and you see a beautiful couple totally wrapped up in each other. You see it all around you and it seriously intensifies your desire to experience it. It makes you want it all the more.

The third level of 'knowing' love is when it actually happens to you. You've met someone who likes you in a way that's different from your other friends and it makes you feel really good, so much that you do not want to be around any one else, only this person for the rest of your life. Aha! So this is it! Now you Really "Know".

All this goes to show the importance of really Knowing Spiritual Unity. Because it is only in the Real Knowing that the thirst for limitlessness and endless unconditional Love can be quenched. And in order to experience the fulfillment of this bottomless thirst one must enter into a way of life that both supports and promises it. Such is the way of the truly spiritual life.

Some Principles of Receiving Benefit

1.    Before we can benefit individually we have to think collectively.

We all receive from the collective. It is in the collective consciousness that in order to receive services we must pay our bills. Receiving payment for our services allows us to practice "what goes around comes around" by paying for the services that we receive. That is a basic example of receiving from the collective consciousness. So if there's no collective thinking there are no benefits to the individual except as a result of his own personal efforts, which leads to loneliness.

2.    In order to increase our benefit from the collective we must contribute to it.

This is evident (or should be) in the payment of workman's comp, social security, taxes, bills and compliments. If you want her to love you you've got to tell her how beautiful she is to you and that you love her, right? It is obvious that the more we contribute to our community, the more support the community has for us. Try as we may to exercise rugged individuality, we are dependent upon the cooperation of others in order to survive. This is called the principle of interdependence and as soon as it is brought to consciousness in a community the community becomes a conscious one.

How does the knowing that "All Is One" actually help us?

In order to come to any viable conclusion to a useful question we must indeed think about it, and in some cases thinking proves to be fruitless, because we just don't know. And thinking, to us, means researching our brains. But we have two other centers of intelligence within us that we frequently overlook. Ever noticed how sometimes we just simply give up on trying to solve a problem and no sooner do we do this than the answer comes to us, and sometime in the form of an idea toward another approach. Now the people who have thought this out have thought this out. And some of their conclusions are:
  • Oftentimes our minds cannot reach a conclusion that our hearts already know intuitively.
  • Oftentimes we cannot read our hearts but our guts are trying to tell us something.
  • If we spend some time regularly cultivating these two other sources of intelligence we will come up with some surprising results/answers/conclusions.
  • So the idea of cultivating all three centers of intelligence may produce significant insights, even wisdom.
How we do this (cultivate all three centers of intelligence) is another process which we learn with practice, but we cannot practice what we have not yet even conceived. So this idea is one worthy of deep and introspective consideration. If applied, this concept of the three centers of intelligence will help us to answer the question, "How does the "knowing" that "All Is One" actually help us?"  And ultimate we will reach the third degree of the process of "Realizing" Spiritual Unity.

Any subject or problem, contemplated long enough, reveals its secret.

From that realized standpoint, understanding the 11 principles of Progressive Development will become easy. Then there is only to follow them to their conclusion and behave accordingly.

And what are the consequences of not undertaking this endeavor? Simply stated: "More of the same", and it keeps getting worse. And aren't we tired of the futile effort to perpetuate an illusory position of "separateness"?

Some of the conclusions I've reached concerning the investigation of this question are:

  • Knowing that All Is One assures that we are provided for, that we may continue work of social significance instead of pursuing the amelioration of our fears of survival.
Ever noticed how the 'rich' seem to have the confidence and resources to do good works if they were to so choose? It's not because they have richness but because that richness assures them of sufficiency setting them free of those concerns to do the good works they may intend. If we were assured of the same sufficiency, would that not set us free also to do works of social significance, were we to so choose? Does not the realization of Spiritual Unity prove such assurance? We can do a workshop on this point alone, for those who have difficulty comprehending it.
  • Knowing that All Is One provides us with the resource of infinite love, should we choose to open ourselves to it. And again, another workshop on Opening Ourselves to the Reality of Infinite Love. With that resource alone individuals can and have been known to accomplish works of tremendous significance.
  • Knowing that All Is One provides us with the understanding of the human situation that allows for pragmatic compassion, which in itself is a great motivator towards good works.
  • Knowing that All Is One provides us with the contentment that we all are longing for.
  • Knowing that All Is One (fill in the blanks)
  • Knowing that All Is One
  • Knowing that All Is One

A Little Song
If it is Love that we are missing and it's Love that we all want,
then the means to feeling loved is just to realize that it's there,
and that all we have to do now, so that we can have it all,
is to wake ourselves and realize the truth of our existence,
and that in the end reality we are a part of everything,
and All is One and One for All and God is All there is to know.
Surrender now and let Love flow, and stop your fighting, let it go,
and turn to love wherever you may find it, for it's there for you
and waiting, if you want it now or realize you must have it.

So begin right now to share your love and practice your religion so,
and love your neighbor as yourself, and if you do not love yourself
then realize you're just the same as any little child embraced
by loving parents somewhere else in this big world there is enough to go around.
And someone somewhere loves you even though you may not feel it now
but soon you will if you'll just share the love you have already there
and be the change you want to see and leave your future cares to Me
For I'm the One Who brought you here 'cause I want you close and I want you near
to Me.

Do you find it hard to believe that simple conversation can relieve pain and physical affliction?
The more I study and practice, the more amazed I become at the integral relationship between past traumatic events and current physical difficulties. Even so-called 'systemic' illnesses are at least ameliorated by astute psychological conversation oriented toward the discovery of unconscious emotional reactivity, and at best they can be completely relieved and abolished forever.

Traumatic events leave a forcefully imprinted belief on the victim's psychological makeup. That belief will be faithfully relied upon as true and automatically and unquestioningly acted upon accordingly. It will not be questioned or re investigated until sufficient pressure builds that its consequences can no longer be borne or ignored. At this point a skilled and experienced student of metaphysics may have an opportunity to bring into question the underlying incorrect assumptions that are at the root of the problem.

Spiritual transformation is not the kind of work that can be done alone. The reason for this is that the conflict of interest is too great. One the one hand the student wants to uncover the root motivations of aberrant and self-sabotaging behavior, and on the other hand, having personally and with great care created them for the very purpose of protection, he believes them to be real and protects them with all his fearful heart.

This investigation into the causation of physical and emotional impediments to freedom and fulfillment has been my life interest for over 40 years, and I dare say I've become reasonably adept at it. If you feel you've lost touch in any way with your freedom, health and happiness, this work is for you. Feel free to give me a call.

Satisfying the Dissatisfied Mind

The mind is always searching. For the most part it does not know what it is searching for, so it will grasp at anything that attracts its attention. Such is the learning process. But its real quest is for satisfaction. It is endlessly searching for satisfaction; for something that will satisfy it, stop it, bring it peace. It tries to define the object of its quest with words such as Truth, Love, God, Reality. But these imprecise definitions leave it with the continued enigma of “What IS Truth, Love, God, Reality?” Its real problem is that it does not know what it is looking for, yet it continues its unending search.

This mental preoccupation distracts one from the healing perception that becomes available when the mind is at peace. So, satisfying the mind, bringing it to a state of peace, is the primary requisite to healing the body, since the body is a manifestation of the state of one’s mind. A body in conflict is the result of a mind in conflict, a dissatisfied mind.

The ancients have determined that there are only two states of mind. There is the state of the mind that is at peace – and that is Heaven, and the state of the mind in such conflict with itself that it manifests aggressively toward others, which is war, and that is Hell.

Peace is not attained by the resolution of conflict. That is tantamount to “winning” the war. Peace is attained by wanting it, by accepting it, and by realizing that it is the prevalent reality. Peace of mind can be attained by discovering that which satisfies it.

What satisfies the mind is the knowing of what satisfies the mind. What satisfies the mind is the Knowing. So what is this Knowing, the knowledge of which will bring that unending satisfaction to the mind that allows the body to be free of preoccupation that it may perceive the ease and beauty of life that it was created to perceive – Love, Peace, Ease, Grace, Beneficial Creativity, Honor, Understanding, Knowledge and the Wisdom to apply it all effectively? What will bring to the mind that endless satisfaction we seek, the mere knowing of which satisfies the mind without further enigma? It's an answer to all questions.

Granted that the 'object' of our quest is satisfaction, what we seek must be the knowledge of an endlessly satisfying Source. So what we are looking for is More Knowledge of God. Focusing on expanding our Knowledge of God brings a true peace of mind to the heart and frees the body to perceive its heavenly existence and adjust itself to that, thereby relinquishing our hold on the physical difficulties that were caused during the life of confusion and conflict.

Don't forget this.

Behavior and the Knowing

Behavior does not necessarily lead to Knowing, but Knowing is certainly the source of appropriate behavior.

Just as there are only two states of mind, peaceful or conflicted; there are also two kinds of behavior, compulsive and enlightened. Behavior includes all actions and non-actions, including speech. Compulsion is motivated by phrases like should, must, have to, ought to, want to, better do it, and the underlying motivation is almost always a fear; to avoid a perceived loss or disapproval, or to acquire some gain or benevolent attention.

Almost all incorrect, embarrassing or self-sabotaging behavior is motivated in one way or another by a desire-oriented compulsion - yet another manifestation of dissatisfaction. Compulsive behavior is referred to in the phrase “before enlightenment, chopping wood, carrying water”. Even the desire for enlightenment can be considered a form of compulsion.

Constructed behavior patterns, contrary to popular belief, do not and can never lead to the Knowing but the Knowing generates perfect behavior. Behavior either comes from the Knowing or it is compulsive.

There is only one behavior that leads to the Knowing of God. If the Knowing of God is truly the goal of one’s efforts then one must prove it by endlessly recognizing and checking compulsive behavior before it takes control. The checking of compulsive behavior must be made a lifetime endeavor. No half measures are acceptable, because they connote insincerity, which only leaves one at the beginning again.

Making the checking of one’s compulsive behavior a seriously lifetime endeavor is the only thing that will quicken the Knowing. It is possible to get it instantaneously, because it is always there, but one will not get it easily without being seriously tested. In the case of instantaneous Knowing the old maxim reads thus: before the Knowing, testing. After the Knowing, testing.

As a matter of fact, enlightenment, until one is firmly established – “qaa`iman bil qist” – will vary like a light on a rheostat according to one’s ability to check one’s compulsive behavior. This is the station of submission where “the faith hath not yet entered the heart”.

Why would we be insincere about holding in check our compulsive behavior? The reason for sincerity is the Knowing. The reasons for insincerity are many - among them vested interest, fear, lack of trust, incomplete faith, etc. The cure for all of which is the Knowledge of God.

Seeing through the illusion of money and power

A note to the desperate reader –

In your desperation you might ask, with considerable epithet, how the f*&^ reading a treatise on metaphysics is going to help you out of your situation and into a better life when all you really need is some money – just a wee tad of charity would do.  Well, not unlike you, many others are also in the same situation of having not enough money, so you might think that these people cannot be of any use to you. But money and faith are closely married.

Consider the difference between having no money and facing fear and destitution, and having no money but having the certain knowledge that provision, however humble, is always guaranteed, and that money, if necessary, will always come. Considering that difference deeply should lead you to the oft-repeated conclusion that money isn’t always what you need - that it's a by-product of a talent, a 'state of mind', if you will. Money is a concept associated with power, and some power is necessary in order to better one’s life. But even power does not come from money, for money without clear thinking is quickly vaporized, and one’s situation of desperation is never lessened.

A Humble Power

So where does power come from? Ultimately it comes from the Divine. So why don’t we pray to God for power and not for money? Isn’t it obvious that with power we can get money but money without power is never well spent and often leads only to deeper problems? So let’s stop the incorrect practice of idolizing money. We do not pray to God for money. That would be stupidity displaying itself, and it rarely works except in some special cases. What we DO pray for is a humble power, or the knowledge of how to earn some money. Power is easily accessible with a few mental modifications to our normal desperation thinking. First, we must stop our panicked thinking. Stopping is by no means easy, so we have to understand why it’s important or we will not devote the time and energy to its mastery. Stopping is more difficult than we think because we have learned to believe that only through persistence - even in stupidity and without any recognizably successful plan whatsoever - will our goal of obtaining money without offering anything in exchange be accomplished. So with that belief firmly in mind, the idea of stopping seems like total disaster.

Why Stopping is Important

Nevertheless, in order to board the train to a peaceful benevolent existence on this planet, one must first be able to leave the disaster express, and it’s hard to jump off if it is not stopped. So stop it we must. This just means taking a moment or two to breathe, to calm the excitement that feels like normal life to us, and allow ourselves to relax just enough to feel ourselves once again. The depth to which one must do this is equal to the distance one has created from one’s soul through misdirected action. The soul is the recipient of power and wisdom from the divine. The self, that mortal part of us that is susceptible to fear, anguish and mistake, must be in a state of communication with the soul in order to receive enlightened inspiration and be able to act upon it in peaceful deliberation. Why is it that the great martial arts masters emphasize inner stillness even in the pitch of battle? Why is it that the masters of successful living such as the Sufis emphasize that the key to success is a trustful realization and that the key to that realization is self-control. If your self is running away with you that’s exactly what it is doing, running though the dark and scary streets in fear and desperation.

Take Advantage of your Moments of Peace

If you are actually sitting for the moment in some place of at least temporary safety like your home, then for the moment realize that your fear is a fearful projection and not necessarily a reality, no matter how imminent you may believe it to be. Your solution is not to be found in further fearful thinking but in maintaining the very calmness and peaceful living that you strive for. So learn to stop fearful desperate thinking and replace it with calmness and peace. Then you will have at least a fighting chance.

The System of Successful Thinking

Stopping (withdrawal of projection) is the fifth branch of eight in the ashtanga yoga system, and is the essential prerequisite to the expected success of the remaining three. These last three are the time tested and honored practices of the system of successful thinking practiced by yogis and other peace-oriented practitioners the world over. They  have been and can be practiced - once learned and understood - in any circumstance, even the most depraved, such as imprisonment or starvation. So it is important that their understanding is embedded deeply in your soul. (The understanding of these three principles is dealt with elsewhere on this website under the title of Samyama.)

The word yoga means 'union attained by communion with God'. It is the highly sought state of total immersion in the Reality of ourselves and proportionately related to the extinction of our fears. It is the end of the lower self’s 'communication' with the soul resulting in its total extinction with only the reality of the Truth remaining. These are the equivalents to the fana' and baqa' taught about in Sufi lore. These practices becomes easier once our resistances are recognized and overcome, because it is actually Divine will anyway and our ultimate destiny that they be accomplished. That’s why the only thing we are required to do is surrender, after which nature, under the overarching divine influence, will take its course.

Without the willingness to see through the illusion of money and power (and by that I mean seeing it for what it really is instead of looking to it as a means of salvation), it will be impossible to attain to the life of your dreams. This is because as long as you believe in the illusion of money and power you will be believing falsely, making an idol and questing for the unattainable. It will always be escaping your grasp, just as this concept seems to be uninteresting to you because you think you know it already and it’s not what you want to hear because it will not help you to obtain what you are looking for as your means of salvation. It’s a worthless quest, and I’m sure you disagree. But indulge me. Even those who have money and power live in constant fear of losing it.

So there is the hurdle to overcome. Without that willingness it is pointless to read further into this work, because it’s all about living in truth, which is impossible so long as one insists on living in falsehood also.

As long as we keep holding onto the impossible falsehood of “if only I had some money, if only I had some power”, we will never attain to the truth that will set us free.

And this discourse is all about that truth, because this discourse is about the true Knowledge of God.

Look at your life so far. If you are still singing that “I’m poor, I’m poor – well it’s true, isn’t it; and don’t try to convince me otherwise with you foolishness of positive thinking and prosperity consciousness; reality is reality” mantra, I have only one thing to say to you. And that is "As you believe.... "

Wasn’t it Albert Einstein who said “one cannot solve a problem with the same mindset that created it? “

Knowing What Really Matters

Think about it. Money is NOT what you really want - as an item alone it really is quite worthless. Its purported value is in what one has that earns it and what one spends it on. Think about the things that you really want and give up the useless quest for the useless. Money is only a medium of exchange, valueless in and of itself.

Understanding the human qualities that actually earn money you will find that lowest on the list of priorities is money itself. None of the people who have plenty actually value money except for its usefulness as a medium of exchange. What is really taking place is the offering of some service or good in exchange for some other service or good of a perceived greater material usefulness.

Think about this final analysis because it is the key to understanding wealth and contentment.

To continue to say “I have not” is not only a waste of time it is totally self-defeating. Why would one want to cling to such a mindset?

By far the most serious anchor to the self-punishing mindset of poverty-consciousness is the desire for revenge. Learning how it works may facilitate your liberation from it if you truly want a better life.

The desire for revenge keeps one from wanting a better life. The need to punish someone - called hatred - burns up all the subconscious energy that is ordinarily spent on envisioning a good life in God's creation. And it may not be and most likely is not a part of your conscious thinking. It's a fact the we will hurt ourselves to get back at someone else, most often parents. "See what a MESS you made out of me?" "I'll show YOU!" "I'll become a nothing, just because you want me to become a something." etc.

Thoughts Are Prayers (So Think Good!)

The fundamental premise of prosperity is gratitude. In all divine scriptures the benevolent Unity says to mankind that gratitude is the key to increase. How does that work, you ask?

A functioning definition of Gratitude is “doing what you can with what you’ve got.” So to make that knowledge work for you, you must take stock of what you’ve got, and you cannot do that while singing the old mantra about what you believe you do not have and what you want. So that mantra of death must be recognized for what it is and jettisoned from our repertoire of stories we tell. Once it is clear what is to be avoided, it becomes easier to focus on what needs to be done. And that is… We MUST take stock of our assets: spiritual and material.

Attention is energy. As we begin to pay more attention to our assets and none to our shortcomings, they begin to increase in value - they 'appreciate' as we 'appreciate' them - and they will take on hitherto unrecognized value. Remember, money is what one receives for something of value if one chooses to offer it in exchange for money. Bartering directly for the good desired from the money is also a means to attainment of the good. So another helpful understanding for the one who creates for a living is to have an actual awareness of the good, material or otherwise, that one wishes in exchange for the creative energy or money acquired therefrom. In other words, what is the purpose, goal, or reason, for one's creative activity?

In my case I can actually say that money has never been of interest to me and that’s why I rarely have any. But I can also say that I have all that I need. Knowing what the necessities of life really are (not money) and that these necessities will never not be there (as a promise from God) goes a long way to relieving the anxieties that cloud the rational thinking necessary to evaluate one's circumstance in a divine light, thereby see the items of value that truly are in one’s possession and at one’s disposal as tools or for barter.

The basic principle here is: “If you can envision your unfulfilled desire, you may certainly have it.” So knowing the reality of what you really want is important, because: “Ask and ye shall receive”.

Hence the Importance of Persistent Envisioning.

The Role and Importance of Spiritual Fulfillment

Spiritual fulfillment is important because it is the only place from which dreams come true. it is therefore the first requirement for the success of all of our projects of creativity, and the first thing that must be envisioned. We must see ourselves happy as a result of spiritual fulfillment and not as a result of the achievements we hope to attain. This is paramount.

Spiritual fulfillment is the key to certainty. Experience is proof, and we cannot be certain unless we are certain. And certainty is another absolute requirement for success in the field of metaphysical creation.

Spiritual fulfillment is important because of the contentment, confidence and satisfaction that it brings.

Spiritual fulfillment and perfect faith engender the capacity for a peace of mind which allows for truly constructive creative thinking. Great works of art and invention, as well as intellectual and artistic discovery come from the creative thinking capacity brought about by an inner knowing from this peace of mind - important matters being resolved, one can get down to the art of living.

But even more significant is the actual experience and recognition of true satisfaction. Recognizing true satisfaction is important because of its usefulness in determining the truth of any matter at hand, because truth and reality bring true satisfaction. In other words, if you are looking for truth, then know that truth satisfies. But if we are incapable of experiencing or eve recognizing true satisfaction, then by what other means are we to determine truth? If however we have the experience of true satisfaction as determined by the completion of a quest - a course of investigation and learning designed to bring about the experience of true satisfaction through the experience of fulfillment gained by a complete spiritual realization - then we can recognize that satisfaction wherever and whenever we experience it. This is what some folks refer to as their ‘truth meter’. If something heard, thought or discovered resonates with an already determined experience of true satisfaction, then it satisfies the curiosity or quest that brought it about. After all, satisfaction is the goal of every quest.

The discovery of a spiritual teacher, for example, let us say the acceptance of a spiritual teacher, is based upon the experience of satisfaction one receives upon being in his or her presence or listening to his or her speech. If such presence or speech is based upon promises to be fulfilled later then there is room for suspicion that one is being deceived, for the satisfaction is not complete in the moment but based in the future dependent upon actions or cooperation. But if one experiences direct satisfaction, and can recognize the feeling of true satisfaction, then one can surmise that what one is hearing is truth. So, understanding the experience of true satisfaction becomes the gauge, so to speak, of one's capacity to recognize truth. And this experience of true satisfaction can only be certified by the completion of tried and true course of study aimed at bringing about that satisfaction, as proved by the presence of a teacher, a satisfying teaching and satisfied students. Hence the quest for spiritual realization.

If you are faced on a journey with a fork in the road and a decision must be made as to the left or the right fork, a contemplative experienced in the knowledge of satisfaction will simply 'feel' into it to see which thought, left or right, brings the desired continuation of satisfaction and will choose that. One choice will feel right and the other less so or completely wrong. But if one's life is based upon conjecture, speculation, imagination and guesswork, one will not have the tool of unerring guidance at one's disposal and the fork in the road becomes a fifty-fifty chance without any sense of certainty.

So the ability to recognize satisfaction is the experience that guides one to the truth of a matter, and the absence of that knowledge leaves one guessing.

The Secret of Metaphysics: How to Create from Nothing

The first step to creating from nothing is writing. Writing bring concept into form. Metaphysics is literally the process by which concept is transmuted into form. And the preliminary effort needed is to write about it. How many metaphysicians do you know who do not write? Was not writing their primary form of conveying their teaching? And was not their teaching on the subject of metaphysics, the creating of something from nothing? And didn’t the degree of their success in that practice relate to the amount of writing they did? One can almost say that if the subject of metaphysics is pure imagination then it is successful to the degree that the practitioner writes about it. Even science fiction writers are writing from their imagination, entertaining millions and being paid very well for it. Why is it that people do not want facts but in fact prefer fiction?

Writing Our Own Future

One can literally write one’s own future. Take for example the subject of metaphysics. The very subject, because of its inherent mystery, is of interest to almost everyone. Particularly when it is defined as the process by which personal wealth is created out of thin air.

The creation of something from nothing has been the subject of many a failed quest due to a failure of understanding. But with the proper understanding teaching it it becomes a source of immediately available funds leading to a definitive increase in personal wealth. All materiality is wealth. Everything created by man existed first (in the 'unseen') as a concept of personal prosperity. Created for the benefit of all humanity, it must necessarily benefit also the one who brought it into existence. That which was found to be of no use was discarded in favor of that which was better.

There is no doubt that personal advancement in the form of increased wealth is one of the things foremost on a man’s mind. From that he sees himself as capable of having all the things that are desirable to make one’s life whole, complete and loving. There may indeed be subconscious doubts, suspicions and aversions to the various means men use to attain such a state of well-being, but if the means were purified of all association with repugnance, few men would turn down the opportunity to enhance their personal wealth. Metaphysics provides not only the answer but the means. As a matter of fact, metaphysics, being by definition the creation of personal wealth from nothing, is the only means by which a man can claim that his personal wealth was earned both legitimately and by himself alone. Compare it to a Science fiction writer whose wealth is produced from the brilliance of his own imagination, which becomes more brilliant and imaginative the more he uses it.

Turning to the writing of metaphysical discourse has been the last resort of many a penurious man and woman. And indeed it proved that when all else failed, the passing on of imaginative metaphysics became the very source of lucre that one need in order to maintain. Well, indeed. If the practice of metaphysics is the creation of personal wealth from absolutely nothing, then it works. And if it works, it is well worth writing about and passing on to others interested in becoming inspired to some rather unconventional means to increased prosperity. Not only that, but it behooves us all to look much further into the source of this transformative process, namely, ‘Nothing’. Shall we investigate ‘nothing’, as an object of investigation? Can it really be that this ‘nothing’ is indeed the primal source of all wealth and materiality?

What will the investigation into ‘nothing’ lead to? Is it really nothing? Is nothing really nothing?

The reality of metaphysics relies heavily on the concept of divinity - Divine Grace, if you will. Hardly a metaphysician exists who does not have as a foundation to his discourse a solidly confirmed understanding of how God, or Divinity, works. And like many things, it only works for you if you believe in it.

So belief and legitimate prosperity go hand in hand, married inextricably to each other, down the lover’s lane. And that could explain why there is so much failure in the world today. It could be nothing more than a deep inner aversion to the many means in use today for acquiring personal wealth – means that do not benefit but harm humanity. Wealth that is not legitimate but gained through the use of oppressive force can bring no lasting satisfaction and is considered rewarding only by the very short-sighted who are doomed by their own willingness to harm others for the sake of personal and very temporary gain. Are we working on our own or are we working in cohorts with power for the sake of personal gain?

The practice of metaphysics can only work if it is done in accordance with Divine Will. And that why there is so much failure and so much success.

So what IS Divine Will?

Divine Will is both absolute and relative. It is absolute in its absoluteness and relative in its relativity. This is absolute. There is no possible or conceivable manifestation that is not brought about by Divine Will. Even the impossibility of the impossible is Divine Will.

The temptation of illegitimate gain is by Divine Will. And the possibility of metaphysical profit is also Divine Will. The testing of mankind by good and evil is Divine Will. It will determine  for us if our personal affinity is toward gain at any cost or toward a willingness to sacrifice for the sake of human kindness.

Divine Will is benevolence - prosperity and happiness for all mankind. That some do not have enough can often be attributed to the malevolent intentions (read 'absence of charity') of others.

Writing brings concept into form. It is the materialization of ideas. If the ideas are at One with the Divine Will, then the writer will be the channel through which the idea manifests (materializes and reaches completion).

Have you not noticed how all of the writings on this website are offered from a sense of overflow - from the feeling of "this cup runneth endlessly over"? I have been given so much that I simply have to write it down. This is called in Arabic 'Fadhl', or 'divine excess', and charitable expression of it is the manifestation of gratitude for it.

God's fundamental grace is Charity. The practitioners of charity are always the recipients.

The Goal is Perfect Surrender

Ibn al-Arabi wrote a whole treatise on the use of our imaginations as a means of approach to reality. We really do have to see it, and we really can. It is reported that Imam Ali, when asked if he could see God, replied: “Would I worship a God I could not see?”

So how do we go about seeing the reality of God? We do that through the exercise of our belief. Yes. Exercise - Practice Believing. After all - we are commanded to believe. Belief is not an accident as most people seem to think. It is a conscious choice. What we believe, we will see.

Islam is a reality on so many different levels. Firstly, it exists. Whether we like it or not, believe it or not, want it or not, love it or not, whatever. It’s there, and it is not going away! Secondly, it’s an enigma to some and a revelation to others.

Thirdly, every word is an indicator, a summary definition of some reality. So what is the reality behind this word, Islam? Its ultimate practice is surrender. And what is the goal of surrender, and by extension, the reality of Islam? Here is the meat of the matter.

As stated previously, the goal of Surrender is to know and live in the Reality of God. So Surrender is the key to the gates of God’s own Heaven.
